Through PSHE pupils LEARN the skills, attributes and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships. Our pupils LEARN to respect themselves and others and to show an appreciation and tolerance of other groups, races, religions, ways of life and points of view, regardless of age, ability, background, gender or special need.

Pupils LEAD through upholding rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

Pupils INSPIRE themselves and others to embrace the challenges of thriving in an ever changing world and tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. Pupils strive to achieve their very best and are supported to reach their full potential.

The PSHE Curriculum

Our teaching of PSHE is within the context of the Islamic faith and in accordance with Islam’s moral teachings. Our 4 Core Values of Respect, Honesty, Cooperation and Compassion alongside Iqra school’s Characteristics of effective learning (independence, resilience, caring, critical thinking and creativity) are threaded into the three core PSHE strands:

  • Health and Wellbeing,
  • Relationships Education
  • Living In The Wider World
