Iqra Primary School: Music Development Plan

We are thrilled to announce that Iqra Primary School has been awarded Music Mark status for another consecutive year!

This prestigious recognition celebrates our commitment to providing high-quality music education and fostering a creative, vibrant environment where our pupils can thrive musically. We’re incredibly proud of our students, staff, and the entire school community for their passion and dedication to making music an integral part of our learning experience.

Here’s to another year of musical excellence, inspiration, and creativity!

At Iqra Primary School, music is more than just a subject - it’s the heartbeat of our daily learning experience, inspiring creativity, passion, and self-expression.

We aim to ignite a lifelong love of music in our pupils, encouraging them to explore their talents and dream big as future musicians. Music, as a universal language, allows children to tap into their creativity and build confidence as they compose, perform, and immerse themselves in a wide array of sounds and styles.

"The best part of music is that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing."

From the earliest years, our children will embark on a musical journey, learning to sing, play instruments, and even create their own beats using digital tools. They'll dive deep into the world of great composers like Mozart and Tchaikovsky, and be exposed to iconic masterpieces like Beethoven's 5th Symphony and the 1812 Overture, helping them appreciate music’s rich history and global impact.

Our well-resourced music curriculum ensures that every child can:

  • Perform, listen to, and evaluate music from different times, cultures, and styles, gaining insight into the works of legendary musicians and composers.
  • Use their voice to sing, experiment with instruments, and even create their own music - either on their own or in collaboration with others.
  • Harness the power of technology to compose their own songs and beats, blending traditional and modern methods of music-making.
  • Understand the essence and artistry behind music, exploring how pitch, tempo, rhythm, and melody come together to create unforgettable sounds.

Our excellent and ambitious music curriculum is taught by specialist music teachers with strong links to the Slough Music Service and the music industry.

"Every beat, every note, every melody you create is a piece of your heart shared with the world."

With every note they play, every song they sing, and every rhythm they create, our children will gain the skills and confidence to express themselves musically, while appreciating the art form that connects us all.

"When you create music, the world listens."

Delivering Excellence

At Iqra School, we don’t just teach music - we create it! We’ve produced and released our very own singles, giving children the full experience of what it’s like to be a music artist. From that first spark of inspiration and writing the lyrics, to creating demos, recording tracks, and perfecting the sound through editing, mixing, and mastering - our children are involved in every step of the process.

But it doesn’t stop there! They also learn how to promote their music, distribute it, and experience the thrill of fan reception when their work is finally released to the world. This hands-on journey helps our pupils understand the ins and outs of the music industry, and equips them with the skills to plan, create, and launch their own music projects successfully.

Through our drive for excellence, the Iqra choir has performed at several public events, including 'The One Eid' Festival at Westfield (London), 'Berkshire Multicultural Festival', Islam Channel Studios and at the opening of the 'Youth Sports Trust Conference' in Coventry (Coventry Football Stadium)

"Your voice and your instrument are your superpowers - use them to change the world!"
